Default 30 / 40 Minute Filler for Year 5

Hi All,

New to this supply and teaching game. Qualified in December and am now supplying at loval school. Tomorrow much of my day is set out, but I need a filler for 30 / 40 mins when they would have been doing dance, but for various reasons we aren't bothering with that now.

Can anyone suggest a nice activity for my Year 5's?

Thanks

Debbie.

Hello! Welcome to the forum...

That's a long time to be doing a 'filler!' Er, quiet reading, handwriting, you reading Horrid Henry to them, quiz (y5 love them, set out the rules i.e. points taken away for bad manners and play boys v. girls), sing (

I have done this with year 3, 4 and 5 - ask them to think of the job they have to do that they hate the most (with me it's washing up) and then they have to design a machine or robot to do the job for them. I've had designs for homework machines, a bedroom tidier, but the best was a hoover that had an attachment to lift people so that it could hoover under them!

! Used to really annoy me when mum asked us to lift our feet... then didn't get round to us for ages it seemed! Always fancied a foot stool...
