Question Why Are You A Supply Teacher?

Hi Everyone,

Work a bit thin on the ground this term so I decided after yet another day getting dressed and ready and no phone call, I would join some other agencies.

You would think they would be sympathetic to the fact that perhaps being a supply teacher was not what you originally wanted to do, but circumstances mean this is what you are doing!

I think you've done well deciding not to go with them! Never been with an agency myself, but I believe it's just like when you work with a school - relationships go a long way to deciding how much work you get... get off on the wrong foot in a school and you never return!

Good luck with your new ones, I hope they find you loads of work!!

Dear Danfur,

Many thanks for the offer.

I ended up signing with two more agencies after sifting through all the adverts in the Chronicle. So far they are still setting me up and getting references and stuff. I phoned another five before picking those two to sign up with. One agency promised to phone back four times and never did.

It is a school I have been to a few times before and did a long term supply in a few years ago. I usually have a nice time there.

Hi Susi,

Your post really m a d e me l a u g h, thanks for that. You seem to have that sense of humour we supply teachers need.

Won't post too much yet until I've had proof my replies are getting to the board. I think my introductory post got lost somewhere in the technology. Yes, you (& your readers) guessed, I'm a newbie here!

Right, better s t a r t finding my way around! Including finding how to stop the smilies creeping in unasked & reducing my posts to nonsense!
