Default primary tutors?

Is there much call for tutors of primary school children? If so how much would be the going rate? Could be a plan for me.

Hi, well you could try contacting the local Kip McGrath education centre. You can find out if there is one near enough to you using Google. They teach students of all ages up to GCSE in small classes - 5 or less. Also, consider posting your skills for free on my website: supplyateacher.com

Default tutors

I think call for tutors depends on where you are and what you can offer. I do Primary and 11+ school entrance. In Surrey this is a bog issue and I have about 10 pupils at £25 an hour. The biggest problem is that the time window (say 4 to 7 PM and weekends) takes me away form my 9 year old. That is why I have

I tutor primary children at £12 an hour which is a fairly low price though i am in the midlands. I like to offer a reasonable price so my parents can afford it though it depends where you live i guess. The times are odd of course as children are at school during the day. I work evenings and saturday mornings.

I have no commercial interest with Kip Mc Grath Centres but if you Google your local one and get some work there, you should be able to earn about £20 a session, at least! :)

See my earlier reply! Everyone has to live! Kip McGrath charge £20 at least for 80mins and pay teachers that rate. £12 is way too low!

I do Maths only tutoring. Mostly year 6, sometimes GCSE. I charge £22 an hour. I am happy with fee for GCSE but I am wondering if I should come down a bit for Year 6 and maybe that would help get more students. I agree about the hours being a bit inconvenient but my teenagers are becoming more independent now which allows more flexibility.

Hi Juggler... to be honest, when it comes to charging now, I think you have to look at how much the local plumbers/mechanics etc. are charging... I expect it's a lot more than £22 per hour! Because the kids you will teach will need different strategies and work tasks to help them progress, you could end up spending half an hour each week getting stuff sorted for the lesson if you're not careful/canny, add that to the travelling, and you're loo
