I agree - classroom management is much harder when you're not the class teacher. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
As you suggested, positive reinforcement is the best way forward and stickers work well with KS1 in particular.
With KS2, I try to have a talk with any troublemakers, explaining that I do not like to get angry with new classes but that I have a job to do and I will not let them disrupt the class.
If they continue to disrupt the class, I will follow a typical behaviour plan - I will put their name on the board and explain that this is a first warning...second time, the individual will miss x amount of time from playtime...third strike and they will miss the whole of playtime/golden time...lastly, they would be sent to another member of staff/head. Often the threat of passing on the information to their normal teacher can be enough of a threat too!
If an incident happens at the end of the day, don't stress!! You can pass on the information to the teacher and they can decide how to proceed - just don't let it spoil your evening!
The benefit of supply is that you can choose not to go back to that class/school and you don't have to see those troublemakers every day!!
