In one school I am in often I send at least 1 child a day out. The CT has told me to do this so I am doing it!! They go to their usual CT and sometimes the HT.

e, but in a place where I'm not allowed to give lines, not allowed to keep them in and they don't care about group/personal points. What else can I do?

The only problem is when you get a kid who refuses to get out!!!! Or when you don't know names!!!! You tend to get to know the naughty ones however!!!!

to find out the name of, for example, a Y3 teacher you could send a Y6 kid to, or vice versa... I know one teacher who just about every kid fears... one mention, and they stop!

I used to get kids sent to me when I was full-time, but I think it probably had more to do with the fact that I was young and enthusiastic and could be bothered to spend time sorting it out than that they would take notice and behave in future!

One 'bad' school I worked in (and refuse to go back to like many other supply teachers I've spoken to) have a 'time out' policy. If the children have been naughty and continue to do so after a warning then they are sent out of the room into the corridor to think about their actions - a few support assistants hang around in the corridor and make a note of the children who are out and why they are out.
The whole system seemed ridiculous to me - the children were not bothered about being sent out and some even offered after they had done something wrong. At one point I did send a child out and when I looked down the corridor there were just lots of pupils out there on ' time out'

I was at a school recently which had this system: 1st warning, 2nd warning, verbal warning, another verbal warning and THEN time out!!!!!!!! It just did not work for me, giving children 4 warnings and then time out!!!!!

A 6 year old called me a fat stupid ugly teacher on Friday and refused to apologise/sit out of Golden time so I sent for a TA to help. She managed to wrestle him out of the room and he came back later with the Head and was in tears saying sorry!!!!! I asked the child how he thought I felt to be called names like that (I was giggling a bit inside!) and he seemed to understand he'd done wrong so apologised again. Did make me feel good that the rest of the kids saw that he didn't get away with it.

Good for you C'belle. I agree some policies are ridiculous. One school has red card system and when they get 4 they're supposed to go to the head, but he's always too 'busy'so they end up in another class and get away with it, pah!
