Default Literacy lesson for years 2, 3 and 4

I've just had a call from a school wanting me to work tomorrow. Been told to do what I want for the Literacy lesson, its with 3 year groups (2,3 and 4).

Idea #1: Don't spend the whole afternoon sorting this, someone's had PPA and there should be planning in place already.

Ok. Choose a book e.g. Rosie's Walk. Read it to them, talk about it. Year 2 draw the bit they found the funniest and write a sentence about it underneath. Year 3 and 4 map out the story (big piccy of farmyard and label certain parts,
