Levels
Hi everyone,
Supply going well, but doing more KS2 than KS1 at mo so not so happy! Can't say I like the big ones that much but at least I've got work. Just would like to know if someone could help me with a To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. of things. In maths and literacy, teachers use levels 1c, 1b, 1a, 2c, etc Can you tell me where you can find descriptions of these sublevels and what pupils have to know to achieve them? Just trying to get my head round everything to be ready when a more permanent job comes along. Thank you for any help you can give me.

There is a really good document for maths, from West Sussex, detailing level descriptors and what they have to achieve for it. I can't remember exactly where it is on their webiste at the moment as it's at school. As for the literacy and science - there are lots of LEA's / ngfl websites that have level descriptor documents, I just can't think of any off the top of my head. I know the brighton edu To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. Hope that helps. I would hate to be in KS2, thankfully I got enough supply out of FS and KS1. Good luck

To be honest, I believe what you need to be able to do for the c/b/a tends to change, less emphasis was put on punctuation a year or two ago, and certainly handwriting is now only marked out of 3, rather than 5.
I know we've got a breakdown for the KS2 Literacy writing assessments at school, and with each pack of SATs papers, you get the breakdown, but as c/b/as aren't reported when Y6 SATs results come out, I'm wondering if that's why I can't find any online?

Thank you
Thank you everybody for your help. Just trying to make sure I know what's going on.
I have now got something to moan about!!! I am a proper supply teacher!!! I had some Year 6 yesterday and I didn't enjoy it much. But those three lads are usually in trouble and on an almost daily basis, so at least it wasn't me BUT I HATE KS2!!! But not enough work in FS and KS1. But will speak to the agencies to try and reiterate my needs!!
Sorry about the ranting but it was really needed.

A To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. bless you, it's awful when you have days like that when you feel totally unsupported. At least on supply you can leave at the end of the day and never have to go back to that class or that school again if you don't want to. I think you'll be doing the right thing, tal To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. Good luck with it and remember for every day like that there are 10 better ones!!

Why not ask your agency for just Y3 & 4 to To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. t with? See how you get on in terms of amount of work?
Have to say though, sounds like a pretty bad class, they're not all like that! Give me the behaviour problems in KS2 over KS1 any day! To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Feel better now!
Thanks for your support. I know all classes aren't like that as I have had some lovely ones. Just wasn't a good day. But trying to look on it as experience and thin To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. Been to the school before and it's a nice place so going to go in with a positive attitude! I never feel defeated for too long though.. Anyway thank you for listening and speak to you soon!

Glad you're feeling happier again!
Re Levels... you need to refer to the national curriculum for levels, my To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. y is at school but it was a white booklet with blue bits on the front and then the programmes of study for all curriculum areas and level descriptors inside.
Various different agencies (Liverpool level descriptors, Roz Wilson, schemes which give a level etc), including some authority websites such as the Sussex one Ski mentioned all suggest levels for work based on certain criteria, but as Nutty said, depending on the source they vary / change. Depends what you are assessing. If you want the definitive guide stick to the National Curriculum, though it is very general.
