Unhappy Losing Hope and Confidence

I'm a secondary NQT, and i had two job interviews this week. i didn't get either of them. they're not the first rejections i've had either. i'm just losing faith in my abilities as a teacher and being able to sell myself to the schools i want to work at.

has anyone else gone through lots of job interviews until they get their job? should i just keep going? i feel like giving up...

I've definitely been in your shoes - I've been told after 5 interviews that I have come 'a very close second' - very frustrating!!

ions must have been well written and of interest to heads for you to have been short-listed
  • interview practice is a valuable experience (I used to be SO nervous at interviews but am much more relaxed now as I know what sort of questions I will be asked)
  • some jobs are already pre-assigned - the schools have somebody in mind but have to go through the process! It's not your fault!
  • maybe it's just fate - those jobs weren't right for you and the perfect position/school is waiting for you!
So, chin up (!), enjoy some virtual chocolate as a treat for a disappointing week

Like the others all I can say is keep going, you will get there. I know that must sound hollow but you will do it and you'll get somewhere that you feel happy with. Good luck

I had over 20 interviews before I finally got my job at a school that I had been doing supply in...I was good at selling myself in my letter, as I got the interview, but totally useless at interviews!

I came 'a close second' at a few, but a lot had obvious internal candidates, so I knew I was just there to make numbers up.

Just keep reminding yourself that you are a good teacher, and that each interview is a practice for your perfect job...And remember, the schools that turn you down are missing out
