Default NQT: Advice needed

Hi all,

I am currently working as a Teacher covering maternity leave (at least 3 months).
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
I have just completed my third week and am struggling to find information on how to start my NQT year.

I know that the GTCW (needless to say, I'm in Wales) need to be told but not sure who should do that or where to go once that has been done.

I am being paid trough an agency but they are not aware of what is required.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'd have thought that either your school or agency could send off the induction record forms. As your agency seem clueless, I would ask your Head to initiate it.
Have a look on the GTCW website.

I think that there is some limit on how much they will pre-date the employment so I'd get it sorted on Monday if I were you!

Good luck and well done for getting work. How's it going?

Has the school allocated you a mentor yet? They may be able to help you sort things out. My opinion is though that it isn't really your responsibility to sort these things out, you have enough on your plate already!

I disagree on that one! I think it is your responsibility to make sure your induction gets sorted properly, its your career!

Also, I know of a situation where an agency didn't tell a school that the teacher they had sent was an NQT, so it is possible your school might not even realise!

Speak to your headteacher and explain the situation and see if you can get something sorted asap.
