Default Unexperienced Primary school teacher here chewing her nails

Hi all
After 8 years as a successful but dissolutioned secondary school teacher I began doing supply work in Primary schools since Easter this year. Since then I have done PP work and daily supply (although there not been much of it since sep).

I applied to a job as a general cover teacher /year 1 teacher and was slightly amazed I got an interview after a small amount of primary school experience.

I am now very worried I am no way ready in terms of understanding what will be asked of me in an interview. After all secondary legislation and initiatives are a little different.

What are the major things I may get asked apart form the usual of why I wish to change to Primary. Is there any legislation effecting year 1 or ppa teachers in general that I will need to know and research.

What are typical primary school general interview questions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, and well done from me too!

Typical interview questions -
Describe a good lesson you have taught, why was it successful and how would you change it if you did it again
Scenario questions such as an upset child asks you to keep a secret - how do you respond?
Why would you be good in the role?
How would you liaise with class teacher if you were wor

Thanks for the advice, not so different to Primary so far then. I was just wondering if they would ask any about something current like the rose report or similar.

and thanks for the support.

Hi and well done for getting an interview. My interview questions were similar- lots on assessment, differentiation, behaviour and parents who may be concerned that Johnny is not reaching his potential, how would you put them at ease etc! Although if you've taught at secondary you won't find the interview too bad.

Good luck
