Default Will someone read my application letter for me please?

Hi everyone

Just writing an application letter for a job, trying to write a whole new one instead of using anything from previous ones as they clearly weren't getting me anywhere. The closing date is Friday, it'll probably be finished by tomorrow night, does anyone mind giving it the once over. Be as critical as you can be, I really fancy this job.

Thanks

Would you like me to check your covering letter, CV, supporting statement or application form?

Hey all you experts, what would you put for these parts of the (very vague) person spec.

To create an ethos for children to develop positive attitudes to work, good relationships and a commitment to high standards

and

To promote personal development and knowledge within relevant subject areas (do you think this means the teachers)

Help!!!!!!

This is a link to a site giving help for job applications. It may not be specific enough for your case because it's not aimed at just teaching, but it may help with general things to think about.

I'd be happy to give my opinions of your letter.

Very vague!

A. Have a positive attitude to work yourself. Be a good model in that respect... expect high standards, give good success criteria for each lesson and tell them your expectations, again, model this for them. Be a part of the team when you're doing group work, model being team leader/a good listener/model how to argue a point politely!

B. Yes, think it's about the teachers... attend courses, be monitored, add to professional development planny thing the stuff you've identified as not your strongest points (don't call them weaknesses!) keeping upto date with latest

s on teaching (Teacher magazine etc.) Maybe!

I'm waffling, hope it helps...

Think Nutty has covered it! Might also add:

A supportive and caring learning environment (a phrase I use in applications), pupils feel confident and valued, reinforce positive behaviour, praise, demand high standards, clear / explicit expectations

B also think it is about you, use ict, websites, read education journals (TES?), discuss ideas with colleagues
instead of weaknesses use areas for improvement

I'll read your letter too if you want.

Good luck!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. That will really help me get going on that part of the letter. The application form for this job is really weird. There was no person spec, just a job description and the application form doesn't even have a section for a personal statement.
