Can you remember that thread?!) the government pay supply teachers in the UK:
  • Pay supply teachers to scale, as normal.
Automatic break through the threshold after they've work either 1 year, or in 10 different schools, whichever comes first.
Danger money for entering any school where chairs and mugs are labelled in the staffroom.
Danger money for entering any school with CCTV cameras round the grounds.
Compensation for time spent deciphering plans that are either a) not typed on a PC, or b) fall below Level 4 in handwriting.
A monetary bonus for every lesson taught where no planning has been left. Doubled if this work has been pre-booked (absolutely no excuse in the world for no planning, I won't stand for it!)

How about a bonus for when you go to schools where you are on yard duty (suspiciously) and they only tell you 1 minute into said playtime, and then no-one appears to offer you a chance to grab a drink/go to

Paying to scale in Wales - absolutely disgusting state of affairs.

You 'only' get scale if you go through the counties - go through the counties and you get very little work 'rung through'!

The agencies are creaming at least £50 per day off our backs in Wales!

I can definitely agree with this one. I had a job last Friday in a high school where the only instructions for one class were to have them complete a project. I had no clue what they were supposed to be doing, and if the kids were right they had to make a music video which meant they legitimately needed to be on YouTube, etc. to find songs and search for images through Google. Yeah, all that stuff kids aren't supposed to do with the computers in the classroom.
