Choir boys aside...If I could change one thing I'd get JK Rowling to write a series of books about an amazing supply teacher who gets up to lots of adventures...oh..so%%t I'll write it myself...It's a kind of Ms Wizz with a dash of Winnie the Witch and Indiana Jones/Lara Croft ....thus subtly re-wiring a generation's brains to think we're really

and fun to have around rather than punch bags and fair game.

And I'd get a mug for staffroom use with the words 'YES, I DO MARK WORK AND I ALWAYS HAVE EVEN IF THAT OTHER SUPPLY TEACHER DIDN'T' inscribed at regular staff eye-level.

Sorry, that's two things - right must off and iron my teaching trousers and get my white-board pen holsters polished for strapping to my thighs.

came from working at a school recently where the two CTs earnestly stated I had to mark even it if it was just a signature. I said that I always did and mentioned that it seemed they'd had some bad luck with supply teachers lately and they recounted recent non-marking and classes left untidy. Sounds like the supply had a rough time or just didn't know what they should be doing. Having met the classes they had some characters so feeling shattered after a hard day might have been the case.

Is there a way us more experienced supply teachers can mentor in a way, show the ropes in a way that's less patronizing than getting a text out of the blue telling us to mark when most of us do that?

We just rarely get to talk to each other. I've started to pass on the supplybag.co.uk forum info when I get the chance.
