More's the point, I lose 0.2 after Christmas in one year group, and she's gaining 0.2, the same day, in another year group! Have the considered that I could have done those hours? It's even scarier if they did than if they didn't! [smilie=evil_po

at the job description, there's no difference between you two and an ordinary teacher now, we can use you instead of supply, and maybe in job-share classes too. *Turning to two TA's* And there's nothing on the syllabus that you two couldn't do, why not apply? You'd be getting so much more money, yet we'd be paying less! May as well give it a go!" [smilie=hate-spal.gif]

Arghhh! At least the girl has a degree... half the TAs/CSs in my school haven't got basic numeracy/literacy skills.. they're mums who were taken on when hours came up... they're lovely, they're fantastic at their job, but shouldn't be 'teaching' like some of them are. I've seen spellings corrected incorrectly and sums marked wrong which were right! Nice as pie when you point it out though, they admit they're struggling... it's even gone to the HT, but nothing's been done about it.. .the school is already used to saving the money.

Keep those teeth clenched jogr8, I can't see it getting any better for a year or so! (Maybe when she's doing her PGCE, they'll ask you to do the PPA instead!)

I had an interesting conversation with a Higher Order Teaching Assistant today about her covering PPA time. She has to prepare lessons/activities, conduct them and mark the work (which sometimes can reach 60 pieces a day!). She says she's not getting paid much more for it and we also discussed the school's decision to advertise for a Cover Supervisor from Reception up to Year 6. I, frankly think that only teachers should be ta

on this type of responsibilty as at least we get paid fairly well for it. I'm not doubting CS's and TA's abilities, I just don't think it's financially fair!

Oh no! At least the HLTA covering the PPA in my school gets most of it planned for her, though she does have to mark it.
