The Book Club - No Spoilers Please!
I don't read, it's a standing joke that I've only read 3 books since I grew up, and 2 of them were children's books in class, but I just finished
'We Need To Talk About Kevin', by Lionel Shriver
...ab-sol-ute-ly loved it!
Haven't been able to put it down for the last few days (had some scathing looks from OH when he had to wait for me, late for going out etc.!)
I know have to read it all over again as the ending flipped how I saw things the first time round! D'oh!
Highly recommended to anyone who has kids/wants kids/doesn't want kids/sitting on the fence about kids for now.

While I'm here I'll recommend a really easy, lovely read "The Five People You meet in heaven by Mitch Albom. Loved that!

Which genres do you guys like? I generally like crime/thrillers but I have read all the Harry Potters and the 1st Lord of the Rings book. One of the BEST thrillers/horrors I have read for shear edge of seat action is Misery by Stephen King. I love Agatha Christie too!I have also read all of the Dan Brown's books, I recommend Digital Fortress for action and a good storyline.

I've really enjoyed books by Torey Hayden. She is a psychologist and was also a special needs teacher.
I've read one child, twilight children, Murphys boy and just finished Ghost Girl, I've managed to pick up most To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. ies fairly cheap in Asda.

G'span, will find that for our first trip to Teeside this year - that's when OH gets to go kayaking and I get to lounge around with the To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. C'belle, I like anything that's good! Anything well written, though on our weekends at Teeside, I do read trash - there's an Asda near the campsite, and when we arrive I tend to pop in and get three books for a fiver! Have you read Anne Fine's 'Tulip Touch'? One I recommend to the more mature kids who like thrillers, though it's not really a thriller as such, just very dark (for a kids' book!) Quick, To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. of hours' read.
Like music/religion/films/politics/career/just-about-anything, I don't aspire to having chosen what I want to do when I grow up, or what I will enjoy when I get there! If I can empathise with the characters in some way, or struggle to understand them as they're a complex lot, and it's believable (yup, adore Tolkein, Middle Earth can exist!), then I guess I like it!
Shriver's book first got me hooked as she played out, through Kevin's mother, every thought I'd ever had about my life and where children fit into it. As the book progressed, I became interested in what To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. I desparately want OH to read it, he doesn't totally understand why I don't want kids (I have to say - at the moment - as I don't want to say it - catagorically - anymore for OHs sake, I'm getting on a bit now!), and Shriver describes the/my feelings in excrutiating depth...

Im into easy reads too, something with humour and some romance.
Anyone read books from the shopaholics series?? Theyre so funny and 'cantputdownable' by Sophie Kinsella. Just read Tuesdays child by Louise Bagshaw - really good n great characters. Carole Matthews is also a good read. I get obsessed by reading, actually had to ban myself from reading during exam time at school because I wouldnt do anything else but read!!
Thanks all for the other reccommendations! (Asda is great for cheap books - eh? To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. )

I like most books too, though can't stand books too wordy or clever, don't impress me as I want the book to wash over me, I don't want to have to THINK, that's what I do when I'm planning or reading bank statements!
I like intelligent books with a gripping story, really loved Karin S To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. ter's thrillers, though I was fairly well repulsed at the same time!

Yeah, they're all horrid, but gripping at the same time, and I have to finish them even though I feel sick sometimes!
Also love James Patterson and have just started "March"by someone its about the father of the girls in Little Women and what he did in the Civil War while they were growing up, haven't got into it yet but probably because I don't have time to To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater.
