pay and the AWR
Hello all.
With regards to pay rates as a general rule of thumb unless you are booked into a long term post do not expect to paid to scale for the 1st 12 weeks. Schools over the years have driven down the cost of supply cover and as more and more companys come into the market they also drive down the price. If a compamy is charging a school for example £140 per day that's less that you could expect to be paid on a daily rate doing long term cover if you are on the upper pay scale.
schools will always play hard ball with rates and try and get the cheapest deal they can but if the school want you and only you you're in a strong position from the Start to be for your rate to be paid to scale from day 1
Day 1 Rights If you hire agency workers, you must ensure that they have they can access your (such as canteen, childcare facilities, etc) and can access information on your job vacanciesfrom the first day of their assignment.
The equal treatment entitlements relate to pay and other basic Work conditions (annual leave, rest breaks etc) and come into effect after an agency worker completes a 12 week qualifying period in the same job with the same hirer.
The Agency Workers Regulations, "AWR", came into force on 1 October 2011. The legislation gives temporary agency workers the entitlement to the same basic employment and Work conditions as if they had been recruited directly, if and when they complete a qualifying period of 12 weeks in the same job. It is not retrospective and for those agency workers already on an assignment, the 12 week period only commenced as of the 1st October 2011. For more detailed information please
