Hi Sarah,
I agree with Nutty - try not to look worried as the kids will seek out any weaknesses (little To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. s!!)
I suppose that I would also say that, in a new class, I wouldn't let the children tell you how the class teacher deals with things in contrast to you (e.g. Mrs Smith lets us play during quiet reading... Miss Foster says we can stay in at playtime...etc).
In other words, when you are the class teacher, you make the rules! Try not to back down (e.g. Well I'd like you to read during quiet reading... you need fresh air so out you go...) Backing down means that the children may try to push the boundaries further!!
Think about the ways you will get the class to listen to you - clapping hands/ "Everybody look this way" etc - everyone has different ways but find one that works for you.
As Nutty says, there are loads of To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. s for fillers on the forum. Songs are always good (I'm assuming you're in primary schools - if not, I have NO To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. Good luck!
