ing the classrooms really hard has anyone got any tips for how to get them to listen and how to manage difficult behaviours when working with different classes each day. I am know starting the day off worried and so probably not coming across as positive and fun which obviously isnt helping!

s... also, use the Search button at the top, perhaps typing in 'behaviour' will bring back some good results...

As for quick thinking from me: you don't have to come across as positive and fun - just try not to show worry... it's demonstrating confidence that the kids will respect... and as long as you have the confidence to do the first 10 minutes, during that first 10, you can work on preparing yourself for the next 10 etc.!

I suppose that I would also say that, in a new class, I wouldn't let the children tell you how the class teacher deals with things in contrast to you (e.g. Mrs Smith lets us play during quiet reading... Miss Foster says we can stay in at playtime...etc).
In other words, when you are the class teacher, you make the rules! Try not to back down (e.g. Well I'd like you to read during quiet reading... you need fresh air so out you go...) Backing down means that the children may try to push the boundaries further!!

Think about the ways you will get the class to listen to you - clapping hands/ "Everybody look this way" etc - everyone has different ways but find one that works for you.
