Default overseas trained

It seems, after reading on forums, that teachers all over are having a very hard time finding a teaching positions. Could anyone tell me if the situation is much worse (or even impossible) for someone trained in an other country? (EEA area) I have a QTS and is registered with the general teaching council and I live in Sheffield.

I also would like to ask, in almost all application forms I have sent for, there is a person specification, do I need to stress all these points in the empty field where you write in short why they should hire you? This is something new for me and would be very grateful for any help.

Hi Emma, as Sheffield is a big city you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a job. There is always a lot of teachers moving around there. I wish I'd stayed there until I'd got my NQT! In the personal statement part you give details of the experience you have in teaching, your ethos and a short account of your personal interests. I'll let somebody else give you more details as I'm not sure that my personal statement is up to much and I don't want to mis-inform you. There are posts on here about what to put in a statement, you could try the search button if that's any help.

On the application forms in my area, most of it is straightforward and then you have to add a 'Letter of Support'.

On my letters, I write about...

what qualities I have which should mean that I will be a success in the role
my philosophies about teaching (i.e. why assessment is important)
my experiences, geared towards the actual role

I don't tend to add info about my presonal life as I'm sure that nobody really cares!

My application forms and letters of support have brought me 3 interviews but I've been 'pipped to the post' all 3 times! I tend to get really nervous at interviews - I only like the bits when you are actually teaching - so I have tried to write down some of the questions I have been asked so I can feel more prepared and therefore more confident!
