e this a whole day project. We did a bit ofnumeracy first then they had to write the characteristics of one of the original kids. Then in pairs they invented the 6th, desribed them and what happened to them in the factory (they hd to be a bad child!). Then they wrote a recipe for the sweet the child had taken and drew a design for the room. The kids LOVED it and they wrote it all up neatly and then te head of lower school took them all to put up in her office (they have ofsted in two weeks and she wanted to make her room look child friendly). So all in all a fantastic day. A million thanks.
Whi;le I'm here I'll just add that today I had reception for the 1st time ever and spent 20 mins helping them to dress after PE, literally taking off and on

! I suggested inventing a new room for Charlie n the Choc factory - never thought of a 6th child but I like it! I found it worked really well when I did it as they get so engaged in it (and this was with a year 5 class!!).

Do kids read James and the Giant Peach these days? Another insect to go inside. Or James and the Giant Stick of Rhubarb!

Another wizard-pupil? (I hear there's a popular book about some kid going to wizard school - Pigwarts is it?!

s Nutty, lets keep them coming, because we all have days when no planning is left and this sort of thing gets the kids motivated and keeps them on task. I actually ahd one child in that year 3 class who didn't know Charlie and the etc and hadn't seen either film, so I had to give him a very brief synopsis of the story, luckily when it came to inventing the character and the room it didn't much matter, especially as he was working with someone who knew it, but you have to be careful of that situation I suppose.
