Hmm, let me think. I taught year one on my last teaching placement- but the problem is I lost my file! Literacy, you could get them to make a storyboard of a story? Maybe read them a story and then get them to redo it as a story board, drawing picture and writing a word/sentence about whats happening? I guess you'll have to do 20mins of phonics will you?- should be able to get something from the letters and sounds book- I know my year 1's were on phase 5 and that was the end of the year, so maybe try something from phase 4? Idk. Numeracy- A lesson I did once was target boards, which actually might be pretty good as you won't know the abilities and its a kind of self differentiating thing. I gave them a number, like 7 and around it they had to write as many number sentences as they could that ended in 7, and they could use + and -. e our own little what time is it mr wolf books when we were doing about time. Sorting shapes too, gave them lots of little shapes and catagories to sort them into, played guess the shape games. Science- We were learning about sound.we dicussed the diffrent vocab and demonstrated quiet, loud etc with a drum, and then played a quick game using Easyteach,

if you'll have that, but I played different noises and they had to guess what it was. Another time, we were working on light, I read Cinderella up to when she went to the ball and then we started thinking what materials would be best for her to walk around in at night- decided shiny stuff as it would reflect the car headlights in the road. Gave them loads of different materials and they had to pick out the shiny ones and decorate cinderella's dress. Hmm, check the dfes standard site's schemes of work, cos they're quite good for giving

s. Art, you could get them to do a self portrait, or portrait of their friend, their favourite pet or something. You'll probably find with year 1 that stuff takes much longer than you thought, cos they're only little. Have a look on sparklebox cos they have some good
