Hi everyone, really looking for some help. Have got a Y1/2 class from hell tomorrow (had them today and they were a real handful). There's no planning either, have found some easter related maths for tomorrow but could do with an

As you know, don't do KS1, but was just thinking, use their getupandgoness to maybe do some drama/hotseating?

Small groups, act out a scene from a well known story / real life /

s chasing indiands etc. (Lay out rules on no running round etc.!)
Make sure they know beforehand that when you tap on the tamourine / blow your nose / clap your hands (won't work, too familiar!) they have to freeze like musical statues.
If you then tap on their shoulder, they have to tell the rest of the class what they were doing, and what each of their friends was doing in their group.
Last time you blow your nose, instead of talking, they have to draw/write about what they did.

Good luck! Just got in so sorry didn't see this earlier!

Hi Nutty, thanks very much, had already gone to bed but just picked this up now. I actually settled for telling the easter story and sequencing the pictures. RE/Lit combined. I honestly don't think they would have managed a drama type lesson, I think they would have gone

Sorry, only just read your post so too late to help, but like Nutty, not really much help with KS1 anyway!

Thanks for the link to the website, looks good.

Hi everyone. Well maybe the fact that I'm not replying til this morning might show how it went yesterday. Actually they really enjoyed the easter story and sequencing the pictures went really well. Pity I couldn't say that about the afternoon. I don't think I've ever been in such a badly behaved class. I couldn't believe that these children were 5,6 and 7 and were physically kicking the crap out of each other in the classroom. There was no calming them down yesterday and the head was no help. The times me or the TA removed the children from the class she brought them straight back in, sat them down on a chair and told them not to move, the second she was gone they were running around again.

I actually feel really down today, when I got in yesterday I felt so awful I went straight to bed, I had lost my voice my head was banging and I just wanted to have a good

That honestly sounds like 90% of days I have in KS1, hence why I don't do it anymore! If you were full time, you wouldn't have the problems for very long, they are kids, and they learn to like you, not like to let you down and yesterday they were pushing you. I've had a class that were like that, Y3, but there were only familiar rumblings after Christmas.
