Hi, I've put together a days lesson plans for each group so here is what i have for year 3/4
Year 3 and Year 4
Maths – 21’s out - get children to stand in a circle, each child can either say 1,2 or 3 numbers, person to say 21 must sit down e.g. first child 1, second 234, third 56 etc, practise doubles and near doubles. Word problems - I have found a really nice nursery rhyme number quiz as well if you want me to send it to you pm me your email address.
English – Definitions and dictionary work. Play ‘What does it mean?’ Look through a dictionary for a difficult word, write it on the board. Get each student to write their guess of the meaning on a piece of paper, or do it in pairs. Make sure each guess is anonymous. Read out guesses, closest to the real definition wins. Do some alphabetical ordering of words. Main activity – write some words on whiteboard, children must place in correct alphabetical order and then find definitions in dictionary/synonyms in thesaurus.

ICT – Discuss about sending messages, discuss different ways we send messages, post, email, telephone, text message, fax etc. Which is most efficient. Play game with children, give each child a message that they must try to communicate without talking. Give them time to practise, then perform in front of rest of class who must guess the message.
Art – Make Escher patterns. Get a small rectangular piece of card, draw a shape on one end of the card. Cut it out and sellotape it to the other end of the card. Decide what the card looks like now. Give the children an A3 piece of paper and get them to cover it in the shape, in tessellating shapes. Then draw and To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. Geography – Map drawing skills – Discuss how to draw a map and what it looks like i.e. birds eye view. Get children to practise this by drawing classroom objects from above. Build up to getting children to draw classroom map in same way, as if they are looking from above. Discuss what items would look like.
Music –
Pass a rhythm. Clap out a rhythm and pass it onto the next person in the circle, they pass it around until everyone has clapped it, if you get it wrong, you must sit down. Increase difficulties of the rhythms. Introduce the To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. of rhythm using words tea coff ee. Develop a rhythm as a class. Give children a 4 x 4 grid and get them to design a rhythm replace tea with T and coffee with C.
or take a CD with classical music on, play it for the children and ask them to draw what they think of when they are listening to the music.
PSHCE – Dilemmas. Talk about dilemmas children might face in their lives. Ask them to write ½ ways they would deal with these dilemmas.
You see your friend cheating in a Maths test. Someone is bullying you. You break one of your mum’s special ornaments at home. You’ve been invited to two friend’s parties on the same night. You lose a special present your mum or dad has given you for your birthday. You are given too much change in a shop. You find £10 on the pavement. Someone is saying unkind things about your friend behind their back. Your mum has left a cupboard door open and you see the bag with your birthday presents inside. They haven’t been wrapped yet. PE - Warm up of beans, stuck in the mud, cups and saucers (use markers if they are upside down they are cups, other way is saucers, split the children in half, some must make the markers cups, some saucers, see who is most successful by counting them at the end) stone, bridge tree. Get one child to crouch on the floor as small as they can, one child must stand with legs apart and arms out to the side (like a star), and one must stand with legs together and arms straight up in the air nice and tall. The other member of the group must go over the stone, under the bridge and around the tree, then swap with another member of the group. Carry on til all have had a go. Then ask them to try and create movement based on these shapes, build up to them creating a routine to music then get half groups to demonstrate while half watch and feedback, then swap.

Do some team building - put hoops on floor, play music, when it swaps they must stand in a hoop, keep removing hoops to make it more difficult. Pass the hoop, children in groups of 5/6 must stand in a circle all holding hands, put a hoop over one of them and tell them they must pass the hoop around the circle without letting go of each others hands.
Raft game - can get a bit rowdy so only do it with a class you can trust - groups of 5/6 give them 2 light mats. they must stand on one mat against one side of the hall and they mustn't get off the mats, To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. Stand children in groups of 5/6 on benches - get them to order themselves without putting feet on floor - order by name alphabetically, age, birthday, height etc.
And take an appropriate story book and a CD - I usually take Mika or something lively like that.
