Default You can do what you want...

Arghhh! Got told this once, have never been asked back to the school! Was I being assessed?!

Ok, if it's a whole day, I make sure I do:

a.m. Literacy - Quick flick through what that year group are doing in that term
a.m. Numeracy - problem solving if I have no

what level they're at
p.m. Hist/Geog/RE - one or the other, History is prefereable for me, unless I don't know what their topic is, then it's Geog of the World!
p.m. I always ask if they have hall time or computer suite timetabled, so I can do a PE or ICT session with them, though PE would be more orienteering than getting out any equipment. ICT's my fav so that's easy.
If not, PSHE/Circle time/Story to finish.

But what a nightmare to be asked!

What lessons would you do? Do you have stock lessons you can pull out of thin air like I can with ICT?

Got this from a book somewhere ...

Topic: Take 6

Lit: What's the 6th letter of the alphabet? How many words can you think or beginning with that letter? Can you find out what some of those words mean from a dictionary and then use them in sentences?

A wizard has lost the potion that wakes him up at 6am 6 days a week. What 6 ingredients would you put in the secret 'wake up' potion? Write the recipe.

Maths: 6 times table, different ways to make 6, using dotty paper make different shaped lines that go over 6 dots, tessellating 6 sided shapes, sorting things into groups of 6

DT: Design a vehicle that can transport 6 multi-link cubes (have a race to see who can go the furthest without dropping their blocks)

Art: Find 6 objects to arrange and then get the kids to draw a still life

A very simple theme! Someone asked on TES recently what theme they can use for a whole day... I basically said just about any noun you can think of, I think this proves the point to a certain degree!
