I had an interesting conversation with a Higher Order Teaching Assistant today about her covering PPA time. She has to prepare lessons/activities, conduct them and mark the work (which sometimes can reach 60 pieces a day!). She says she's not getting paid much more for it and we also discussed the school's decision to advertise for a Cover Supervisor from Reception up to Year 6. I, frankly think that only teachers should be taking on this type of responsibilty as at least we get paid fairly well for it. I'm not doubting CS's and TA's abilities, I just don't think it's financially fair!
