Exactly like that. I usually go around children when they are working and put a green circle on the work of children who have got it, ask the ones who haven't to come onto the carpet and work with me (they usually do that themselves anyway) and at the end of the lesson (especially for maths and grammar lessons) I always ask them to put a

ed circle on their work: red= don't understand, orange= maybe, green = I understand. It can then be followed up by me or the teacher. It also means that during the lesson the children who don't understand can spend the time they need with you, while the others go and work in groups and on their own.

I hope this helps. I was amazed when I first seen a teacher use this strategy.
