I guess that depends on the schools. The 3 schools I worked for primarily wanted good teachers... be them NQTs or post-threshold. If they liked them, they asked them to return... Worth a shot, it's a big difference in pay, and, really gets me cross this, don't they want what's best for the kids at the end of the day?!

A friend of mine recently was turned down at interview, secondary, because she 'would be great as our Head of Department, but we just want a teacher, you're too good for that and it would embarrass our HoD.'

She did want to ask 'but don't you want what's best for your children?' but she wants to relocate and can't have a black mark against her in case there's another job advertised in the area!!
