When I take the register with KS2, I just let them do it themselves which saves me from any embarrassing pronunciations - I say Hello X to the first child, who then says Hello X to next child... so I get to hear how to say each name!

So what about the kids who won't speak/ or don't have sufficent english to understand? Or won't co-operate? I would be scared to try this approach
