Hi Mike, Sorry to be a pain but can I just warn you about doing supply work before you start your induction. I have been caught out on this. From the first day you fdo any supply work you have 4 terms in which to start your induction. This can be extended by a further 3 terms if necessary (you have to complete a form and an interview with the local LEA). At the end of these 7 terms you will no longer be allowed to teach if your induction is not underway or completed. You can work as an unqualfied teacher but only if there are no qualified teachers available to do the job. You would actually be better off getting supply work as a TA or HLTA if you intend to wait a year before applying for teaching posts. Sorry to be a bore about this but like I said I have been caught out and I am now in talks with my union and MP to try and be allowed back into teaching. The Statutory Guidance on Induction for Newly Qualified Teachers in England will tell you more - if you don't fall asleep first!
