Default Help with a difficult year 1/2 class ASAP

I think I have done something I'm going to regret.
A while ago I told the agency I work for that I wouldn't go to a particular school again because of teh lack of respect and poor behaviour. However, they phoned me this week to ask me to do a day there (know they shouldn't, but they sounded desperate - wonder why?!?!) and the year 1/2 class I have been asked to do is the lesser of many evils so I said yes. I have already decided that if I have a horrific day then I'll tell the agency in no uncertain terms never to ask me to go there again, but in the meantime, do you have any hints or tips to make my day better?
The main issues are the children find it difficult to listen to instructions as many of them are either talking, trying to distract others or generally crawling around the classroom. The sanctions used in school do not seem to work and the positive attitude I usually try to have seems to go out the window as very few of the children seem to respond to stickers/praise/bribery, etc. and I end up shouting (which I hate doing and it doesn't work anyway)
Help me!
