Oh yes. we've all had those days! Keep smiling and keep at it - it will get better.
I'm with an agency that text me when they have work, but I am NEVER quite quick enough to get it...but the other agencies I'm with usually answer the phone till about half past five, then they have an on call system. I would try joining another To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. . Depends where you are in the country of course, but in my experience the smaller local agencies tend to be the best - you want to be at the top of the pile for assignments, not getting the rubbish everyone else has turned down or won't accept! At first we all find it difficult to turn down work, as we're afraid it won't keep coming in, but it does! Your agency needs to know what your limits are, and it's no good if you never get to speak to your rep, as often if you develop a good relationship with someone in the office, and they know you do a good job, you'll be first in line for decent work. And a good agency will return you to schools you have been to before, if you have enjoyed it and done a good job.
It took time, but I have a few ground rules with my agencies; no KS2, no nursery nurse assignments, but I'm prepared to travel, so they sometimes ring me to go to more remote assignments. And I pre-bookings rather than early morning calls (although I will answer calls if work has been scarce). Your rules may be different, but trust me - having a few rules will make your life much easier! Remember, they can't function without you and your skills.
